Arunas Rutkus (Lithuania, 1961)1

Arunas Rutkus was born (1961) and grew up in Vilnius, Lithuania. From childhood attracted to the fine arts, in 1980 - 1985 he studies mosaic, stained glass and fresco at Vilnius Art Academy. Later he devotes the biggest part of art for his core passion – painting. Trying himself in expressive abstraction, the artist chooses bright colors and futuristic forms.
Arunas Rutkus is famous for his unique painting style, characteristic for so called Eastern school – figurative poetic symbolism, and impeccable implementation technique. Inspired by the philosophy of European and Eastern countries, the mastery of Renaissance artists, he demonstrates the deep sense of his roots and the influence of M. K. Ciurlionis’s creativity model. In order to understand the whole of Arunas Rutkus expression better, one must note that the artist is also known as a film director who tried himself in short film and music video genres. Arunas Rutkus directed short film won a Special Jury Prize at Olibere FIMA at Milano Short Film Festival, and one of his directed music videos was given the MTV Fresh Award.

NBA stars Arvydas Sabonis and Sarunas Marciulionis are amongst the admirers of Arunas Rutkus art. Arunas Rutkus painting, called "Leaf", belongs to a singer Sting.
Arunas Rutkus constantly donates his artworks to charity (Caudwell Children, Amber Lounge Monaco, Lions Club Lithuania).


More than 50 personal and group exhibitions in 17 countries, including:
- Art En Capital at Grand Palais in Paris, France
- Salon de SNBA at Carrousel du Louvre in Paris, France
- St. Petersburg Bennial „Spatia Nova" in St. Petersburg, Russia
- European Painting at Sharjah Art Museum in Sharjah, UAE
- The Art Society of International Monetary Fund in Washington, USA
