Completed on 25th September 2015 one of the largest statues of Sakyamuni Buddha in the world, measuring a height of 51mt, called Buddha Dordenma (The Buddha on a throne of Vajra) is residing on a hilltop of Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan. Perched atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park overlooking the southern entrance of Thimphu city, Buddha Dordenma is located at a distance of 7km from the heart of the capital city of Bhutan. The magnificent statue of Buddha Dordenma is said to fulfill an ancient prophecy dating back to 18th century A.D. that was discovered by the Terton Pema Lingpa (Religious Treasure Discoverer) and is said to emanate an aura of peace and happiness to the entire world.
