ROMANIA - The religious complex Peștera Ialomitei

(1 vote)

MĂNĂSTIREA IALOMIŢEI was built in the 15th century, right at the entrance to PEŞTERA IALOMIŢEI (Ialomita Cave), on the right slope of IALOMITA KEYS, on mountain BĂTRÂNA, at an altitude of 1.530 m.
The current hermitage, located near the PEŞTERA IALOMIŢEI, was built in 1901 by several founders and with the participation of shepherds from the area.
The church was consecrated in 1911. Later, in 1961, it was destroyed by fire, and in 1994, construction began on a new church at the entrance to the cave, which was completed in June 1996.
PEŞTERA IALOMIŢEI, is the most visited cave in the ROMANIA Mountains and represents a point of great interest for tourism.
PEŞTERA IALOMIŢEI is developed on a single level, on a length of approximately 480 meters, of which 400 meters are accessible to tourists, following upstream a portion of another 80 meters, with galleries and halls. The level difference is 60 meters. It is crossed by a stream and has a mixed development, presenting both galleries and halls (is).
